Sophia turned 5, yes F-I-V-E yesterday! Where did my little baby go?!? When other Moms tell you “Time goes by in a blink” during those first few weeks of your baby’s life, you kinda laugh it off because the days [and nights] seem so long. But they’re right, I feel like I blinked and the first 5 years of her life are just done! But with each passing year, my girl gets a little more independent [who am I kidding… a lot MORE independent] and that always begins with the choice of a birthday party theme, which this year happened to be a Science Party!

The only year that I’ve ever got to choose for Miss Sophia was her first. She’s picked ever since – Mickey Mouse for her 2nd, Princess Tea Party for her 3rd, Dinosaur for her 4th, and this year I was completely shocked when she exclaimed “Mom, I want to have a Science Birthday Party”! I wasn’t surprised by the fact that she loves Science – we’re constantly making some sort of “hypothesis” and attempting different crafts, but I was surprised that she would turn the idea into a party theme. As soon as I started planning, though, I got super excited. There were a ton of fun ideas running through my head!

I pulled ideas from our previous parties, science projects from previous posts [like DIY Gak], and ordered some fabulous Science Supplies for decorations and party favors from Amazon. I knew I needed a sweet treat to go inside the Science Party Favor Bags too [everyone loves a little treat to take home!], but I wasn’t quite sure on what.

While grocery shopping at Food Lion a couple of weeks before the party date, I saw these adorable Mott’s applesauce packs featuring everyone’s favorite “little” Scientists… Minions! They fit so perfectly with our Science theme, I just couldn’t pass them up. Little or big – everyone seems to love Minions, so I thought it was the perfect compliment to our Science Party Favors, especially when I added the cute little tag – which you print right now to attach to your applesauce cups for an upcoming party or play date!

I chose to print the tags off on card stock and attach them right to the applesauce packages, but you could also attach to spoons and have them sitting out for your guests to enjoy right there at the party or play date!

One of the Birthday Girl’s favorite activities [and loved by all the guests too] was our Cupcake Creation Station. I struggled with ideas for a Science Birthday Cake design and decided to let everyone design their own!
